Srinagar | August 1: Two labourers lost their lives after terrorists opened fire at a brick kiln in the Kelam area of Kulgam district, Jammu and Kashmir. The second injured labourer succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a hospital in Srinagar on Saturday morning.
According to police, unidentified terrorists carried out the attack on Friday evening. Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a massive search operation to track down those responsible.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah strongly condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
The Lieutenant Governor has directed security forces to intensify anti-terror operations to eliminate the attackers. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister announced ₹10 lakh ex-gratia from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased labourer, along with ₹6 lakh in immediate assistance from the Kulgam District Administration.
